Reading log #1 9/9/17
In the book The Testing,  Malencia Vale is a sixteen year old girl who has just finished her  mandatory  education.  She lives in Five lakes colony with her brothers and parents. On page 21 it states " You four have been selected to participate in The Testing." This quote proves that she was a smart girl as she was chosen over 18 colonies to be tested for the only university. She is also a calm and quiet girl as proven on page 19. "One or two citizens wave, but they are busy and don't stop to talk. Which I prefer. " This shows how she is a anti social person. She is a dynamic character because she learns and grows through the story.
Reading log #2 9/25/17
One important scene from the book the testing is when Malencia is chosen for the testing. This happens on the day after graduation. This is an important scene because it sets the plot for the rest of the book. It shows how Cia is a smart girl, but she can often be very nervous about things. Cia is very  nervous to be participating in the testing as shown on page 23 when it states" all my excitement about being chosen is gone--replaced with an icy fear." This scene is part of the rising action by giving information for the rest of the book. Another important quote from the book is when Cias dad tells her about the testings. " he closes his eyes and i sit besides him, wondering what it would feel like to loose the memories of my friends. " (page 31)  This is important because it shows how cias dad was worried about how malencia would be during the testing and if she would be okay after hearing about her dads potential dreams.
Reading log #3 9/16/17
In the book, Cleopatra VII: daughter of the Nile, Cleopatra is writing her own diary about her day to day life. Cleopatra is the princess of Egypt, currently living in Alexandria. She has 3 other sisters and two younger brothers. She is not afraid to be a leader and to compete against her sisters when the time is necessary. This is shown on page 17 when she says " This gift of befriending people will make me a better queen than tryphaena, who hates the Jews and Medes. It will help me better than Berenice, the sister I love, who is too afraid of the streets to venture out of our royal apartments." She is also a very intelligent person when out on the streets because she knows as a princess she is wanted to do everything and everything for the greater good of her kingdom.  She is also a very cautious person as shown on page 6 when it says, " would this sister try to poison me? Yes i believe so."
